UNIQUE DESIGN PIECES INSPIRED BY THE CRAFT OF TALLI
DESIGNED BY NICOLAS JEBRAN IN COLLABORATION WITH IRTHI CONTEMPORARY CRAFTS COUNCIL

The intricate, fine patterns of the Emirati craft of Talli were traditionally woven by women in their homes, twisting and braiding strands of colourful threads together to create long, narrow bands of textile in patterns passed from generation to generation. Used to embellish Emirati women’s clothing, the stunning, iridescent strips of Talli represent glamour and sophistication.

For MENASA, Lebanese haute-couture designer Nicolas Jebran has created an extravagant showpiece dress inte- grating Talli created exclusively for his design studio by Emirati artisans from the Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council in Sharjah, an affiliate of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment. Championing artisans and designers, empowering women and preserving the skills and rich cultural heritage of the UAE for current and future generations, Irthi Contemporary Arts Council is committed to positioning Emirati crafts on an international platform.

Jebran, known for his glamorous creations worn by celebrities such as Beyoncé, Madonna and Lady Gaga, is introducing the exquisite art of Talli to his world of haute-couture luxury with the one-of-a-kind showpiece Talli gown and special edition accessories created for MENASA.
